Cal Ballroom is one of the largest and most competitive ballroom dancing teams on the West Coast. We compete throughout the year at local collegiate and amateur competitions, with our team members regularly placing in the finals. The team has also done well in competitions on the East Coast such as the BADC and Harvard Invitational, where we have taken home several first place wins. Several team members competed at 2006 US National Championships, where they also earned some high placements in various events, including two first places.

In addition, many of our alums have gone on to excel in competitions throughout the country. Turtle Brennen who graduated from Berkeley in 1993, has since gone on to hold a number of titles in national competitions such as 1996 World Championship Amateur US Representative and 1997 US Smooth Champion. Rebecca Melton (class ’02) has placed in top 10 at 2006 US National Championships. Alums Morgan Ames and Albertina Thai have also won at many local competitions such as the Berkeley Classic and California State Championships.
